COVID-19 Information Updates
Thursday, September 10, 2020

September 10, 2020

Dear Stuttgart Parents and Community Members:

Each week, we will be providing information regarding the number of students/staff testing positive for COVID-19.

Quarantined students are not counted absent from school and participate in remote learning. Quarantined teachers maintain active involvement by providing remote instruction with an assistant/substitute teacher assigned to the on-site classroom. These opportunities are made possible by the district's commitment this year to implement a blended learning/instruction model in every classroom.

Due to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Stuttgart School District will not release any additional information, including the name(s) of positive COVID-19 student(s) or staff member(s).

Case numbers will not be broken down by school or program area in order to protect the privacy of any student or staff member affected by COVID-19. An exception may be made IF a large number of students specific to an athletic program are affected, because our coaches would need to quickly and transparently communicate with students or staff members at opponent teams/campuses and with any attendees of athletic events. An exception may also be made IF a large number of students specific to one school are affected and a determination is made to quarantine an entire grade-level or school campus in order to follow safety precautions.

Parents and/or staff members will be contacted by a school representative via phone call if their child’s health and/or their health could be impacted by an individual with COVID-19 at the school, or if their child and/or they should go under quarantine for any reason, or if they and/or their child should be tested for COVID-19. The Stuttgart School District works in partnership with the Arkansas Department of Health to follow all contact tracing protocols.
