Each year a Stuttgart High School Senior is selected as the school’s DAR Good Citizen, rewarding the qualities of good citizenship. This year Zoe Armstrong was selected for this outstanding honor and was honored at a reception at the First Christian Church.

Armstrong is the daughter of Chris and Claire Armstrong. She will be attending Memphis University in the fall to major in Mechanical engineering. Armstrong is a leader on the campus of SHS, serving as the President of Thespians, Recording Secretary for the SHS Main Council, and Vice President of Key club. She is a member of Leo Club, Interact Club, and Science Club.

This award recognizes and rewards individuals who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. These students are selected by their teachers and peers because they demonstrate these qualities to an outstanding degree.

  • This program is only open to high-school seniors whose schools are accredited by their state board of education.
  • Only one student per year may be honored as a school's DAR Good Citizen.
  • United States citizenship is not required.
  • Additional rules and guidelines can be acquired by contacting your local DAR chapter.

Once a student is chosen as the DAR Good Citizen the student is invited to participate in the scholarship portion of the program.

Teachers at SHS narrow the eligible candidates to three, then the senior class votes to determine the overall winner. The DAR award was created in 1934 and allows winners the opportunity to compete for scholarship money and additional rewards.
